WW1 - Trench Barber

 
 
Not dated but identified as a French trench barber. Official title? No, just a brother in the trench helping another out. Small moments of humanity to break up the weekly grind that is remembering the Great War.

You had to avoid beards in the trenches because of the lice. That's why beards went out of style after WWI.

I thought it was more for making sure a gas mask sealed to the face. Now that I think about it I don't remember seeing any pictures of soldiers with full beards.
