Social Matter - This Is What Decline Will Look Like On Virtual Reality

New essay is up at Social Matter about the coming world of virtual reality. VR seems all fun and games right now, but few people are thinking beyond the surface level sex applications that people are using now.

It is going to get weird. It is going to be seductive and addictive. We ourselves have been cultivated since the arrival of social media and smartphones for adoption of VR existence.

Great piece. I sent you by email some info about Douglas Trumbull's fascinating 1983 examination of VR, Brainstorm.

I think you missed the elephant in the room.

If TV kills reproduction rates... we ain't seen nothing yet!

The question then becomes, how do Western societies, with their schizophrenic growth policies, respond?

Many in the Manosphere think that VR sex will be the downfall of Feminism, is there any truth to that?

To expand on my comment, everyone immediately wants to jump to VR sex. It's not just about sex, any more than TV is just about sex.

When you can do more and more things in VR, and those things are brighter, better looking, and cheaper, there's less and less reason to leave VR. When you are in VR, you are not in meatspace swapping germs and pursuing making babies.

Heck, what if aging career-grrlz can (secretly) have a baby in VR?

Too uncanny valley?

Portlander - I think the big hit will be with therapy and that therapy will expand in nature and application because the VR drive seems to be on "experience". I bet some women will run modules where they go thru a wedding simulation.

My podcast wednesday discusses it. i tried to avoid the dark stuff and tried to minimize the sex stuff.
