Social Matter - Xi's Purges

New essay at Social Matter is up. It concerns the massive reforms and changes in China right now. The Western media cannot be bothered to tie all of the threads together, but Xi Jinping is attempting a comprehensive reform. This consolidates not just his power but attempts to secure Chinese soveriengty. Not just an economic sovereignty, but an intellectual sovereignty. I hope you enjoy.

This is sort of similar to what is happening in Russia. The fact that Russia and China seem to be sidling into some sort of alliance has long term implications to the world's power structure, long dominated by the US and Europe. One is reminded of Mackinder's theory that whoever controls Eurasian controls the world:

Sykes , Agreed, and China and Russia making nice would secure a long border so that they can both look outward in the opposite direction.

Would you consider posting your Social Matter blog posts in full here as well? The only SM posts I bother to read are written by you, and it would be convenient not to have sort through them in my RSS.
